A Message from the CEO

Dear Friends of E.L. Haynes,

I am thrilled to share our 2017-2018 Annual Report with you. Throughout the past year, our Pre-K3-12th grade school community celebrated many exciting accomplishments.

• Our elementary school achieved Tier 1 status on the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) School Quality Report for the third consecutive year, ranking among the highest performing schools in the city, and we’ve continued our commitment to robust arts programming, with our youngest students wowing audiences with their inspiring production of Annie, Jr.;
• Our middle school remains in the upper half of Tier 2, displaying strong school culture indicators such as in-seat attendance (95.5%) and re-enrollment (88%), and our students explored their identities by creating social justice-focused podcasts, created digital music, and a group of middle school girls traveled to Costa Rica on an international service trip; and,
• Our high school earned a Tier 1 rating for the first time in its history. Our graduation rate rose to 85.9%, our college acceptance rate was 93.8%, our students earned 43 passing grades on Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and more students than ever participated in meaningful pre-college programs, furthering our mission to ensure our young adults become engaged citizens and active community members.

As we celebrate our many accomplishments from 2017-2018, I want to thank our staff members, Board of Trustees, partners, and families who continuously give their time, energy, resources, and voices to our community as we strives make a more just and equitable world for our students.
